Trans Am GTA Window Sticker Discovered- Five Years Later

On the eve of my trip to see the Indy Car race at Watkins Glen I had the good fortune of receiving the window sticker for the 1987 Trans Am GTA I purchased five years ago.  The seller discovered it in some old papers and passed it along to me.  It confirmed what I had thought- this car was a rare one in that the GTA package which normally comes with the 5.7 liter Corvette motor, does not have it.  instead the car has the 5.0 liter V8.  The window sticker shows a $300.00 credit on the price, so it is kind of an odd situation since it does have the upgraded instrument package.

I would gladly have had the Vette motor and the analog gauges but that's what it is.  This was a nice find right in my neighborhood- actually across the street owned by an 87 year old, who just turned 92 in May.   Not your grand ma's typical car!  Best of all it only had 31,000 miles on it when I acquired it.

So to celebrate- here's some pics I took today in the local park. Another hot day in Florida where the sun usually shines.   Stay tuned for my Indy Car pics coming up next!

See you at Watkins Glen!

Scorching Summer of 2016

I am finally getting out a new post this week.  Seems like every day is hotter than the one before. The past month has been busy with travel to PA once and NY twice with a couple of side trips to Brooksville. I officially retired from banking on August 2nd and it is amazing how busy retirement can be.

The good news is I will be traveling to more car races in the future to bring you more of my roving reporter photos in the paddock, near the pits and in the crowds, not to mention the beautiful country roads that lead to the major race tracks I will be checking out. My next big event will be the Indy Car race at Watkins Glen, NY over the Labor Day weekend. That will be a good one as the rolling hills that form the backdrop to one of America's most legendary road courses are spectacular, let alone the racing.

This blog post features some of the photos from my last six weeks on the road, covering over 5,000 miles. I had time to step back and get a perspective on the world outside of  cars and races.Take a look at something a little different.

It was hot!

So hot the cars seemed to melt!

And The Horses Were Kicking Up Dust

And The Deer Were Out Looking For Water Mid Day

As Well As This Guy

The Hay Was Dry

And the Kids Were Restless

As Well As Mischievous

And These Guys Were Glad They Shaved

And I Wish My Trans Am Was A Porsche!

My Next Post Will Feature Indy Cars!

It has been a long hot summer!
