Firestone Grand Prix - The Power Is On!

Another pole position for the man that is lighting up the streets of St. Petersburg Florida!  Not that St. Petersburg needs to be lit up-  it is doing just fine with the nightlife in the beautiful, walkable downtown.

Will Power is making a statement with his pole position, new track record of 1 minute, 0.6509 seconds ( 106.841 mph) and a team Penske  sweep of the first four positions.  Here's a brief photo look at Saturday's activity, including the autograph session that was a blast.

I was fortunate to have my latest Autoweek magazine with me and got two of the three featured driver's to sign it.

Rookie Sage Karam, Will Power and Simon Pagenaud

Sebring Sights

Here a  few sights from the Twelve Hours of Sebring.  More material and stories to follow in future blogs.  A perfect race week in Central Florida. The #5 Action Express Racing's Prototype Corvette took top honors and the first overall win at Sebring by Chevrolet since 1965. A beautiful thing.

Thanks To World Champion Niki Lauda

This is a quick post to thank Niki Lauda for his kindness in returning autographed photos I took of him in 1976 at the US Grand Prix at Watkins Glen, NY.  It took me 38 years to get around to sending  the pictures last August to the three time F1 World Champion with the hope I may see them come back some day. Mr. Lauda graciously signed and returned them last October.  I thought, how I do I thank him?   I came up with my own 2015 calendar with some of my favorite pictures from 2014 and sent it to Niki..

Feeling a little ashamed that my calendar didn't include a Mercedes, I enclosed some pictures of my car show friend, Jim Parrott's  2011 SLS AMG.  (Niki is the non-executive chairman to the  Mercedes Formula 1 works team)   Mr. Lauda must have liked it and I was amazed today when I received two pictures back, autographed by him.  Very nice and  certainly classy for a world famous man that does not know me, other than I am a fan of his.   Thank you kind sir!

Announcing - www.carcamerastory.com  is one year old today,  March 17, 2015.  Quite a nice 1st birthday present below:

Porsche Club Wash & Shine and Festivals of Speed Gallery

A quick post for all to enjoy, here's some pictures of the fabulous sights in downtown St. Petersburg, FL on Sunday, March 8th.  First we start with the Porsche Club of America's Wash & Shine Car show at Spa Beach Park in beautiful St. Petersburg. The setting could not have been more beautiful.   Paradise!

And across the way in Vinoy Park, the prestigious Festivals of Speed.  Here is the eye popping Porsche 919 that will compete at LeMans. This is only the second appearance of this car in the US and that's why I wanted to photograph every angle of Porsche's most talked about race car in decades.

Get Ready For Sebring!

March is here and the iconic 12 Hours of Sebring is just two weeks away.  Sebring holds many fond memories for fans across the spectrum, including former President Jimmy Carter.  If you have not been to Sebring you should add it to your bucket list.   Here's a taste of what I'm talking about:
