Like Sports Car and Formula 1 Racing,  Golf is an International Sport
In honor of the playing of the Ryder Cup this weekend here's a quick flashback to the 1995 match at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester , NY.   My former office at First National Bank of Rochester was on the edge of the 14th hole of Oak Hill's West Course and I had a pretty good vantage point all week to see the spectacle.  Unfortunately for the US, the Europeans beat us, but just by a point- see the attached video summary.

Now here's some pictures you will not see anywhere else- one bit of trivia-  see the small image of a plane above?    Look close as that is the Concorde coming in from Europe with the entire golf tam as they fly over the Oak Hill golf course before landing at Rochester International airport. This was in mid day and hundreds of people in Pittsford Plaza across the street from the course stopped to see it- and there were dozens of people on the roof tops of the buildings taking pictures.

Ziggy's Garage and Cars & Coffee

Last Saturday was the regularly scheduled  duPont Registry Cars & Coffee.  The weather was not cooperating-  on and off drizzle was waiting for everyone as the morning dawned. I decided to venture out without  the Boxster or the Trans Am, opting to take the Impala for a ride and see if anyone shows up.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw cars turning into the long driveway as I approached from the back way in off 34th St.  I immediately thought it was worth the short trip from Seminole even before I reached the parking area.  Cars & Coffee never disappoints and despite the light turnout, I ran across three cars that brought back some really old, really good memories.

Oh, the title of this post is a flash back to the days of working on all three of these cars in my garage- a mini version of  Slick's garage.  It was my little two car garage back in Newark, NY. It was more appropriately called an operating room and it saw some life saving surgery on one Duke's of Hazard 1968 Dodge Charger, a 1970 BMW 2002 and some less serious out patient work on my 1972 Buick GS.  These were special cars that were and still are close to my heart.  Over the weekend I found some old pictures in the archives to share.  I hope you enjoy the comparison- then and now!

Check out the Corsa Rally as well and visit duPont Registry's C&C web site to get all the details.
